Paradise on the Beach
Stayed in March — The condo was exactly as we expected – how it was shown in the pics. The open concept of the living space was amazing allowing a beautiful breeze to keep you cool while you enjoyed the sea. Loved how secure this place was and the location to restaurants and shopping was excellent. We were very well taken care of! There are only 4 comments to make. We wanted to do some cooking – but there were no lids for any of the pots; there are a couple of broken tiles along the balcony railing and sadly, my husband stepped on one and cut the bottom of his foot); the bed (king) was quite hard (perhaps a foamy on top?) and lastly – would have been great to have an option of pillows – they were all hard foam pillows and when you are used to softer ones, it wasn’t as comfortable – perhaps have a couple hard and a couple of softer ones available. These are minor comments, and are our perspective only – we would highly recommend these accommodations!!

Best you could ask for!
Three of us stayed in this beautiful two bedroom condo for two weeks! It is very centrally located in the quaint Creole town of Grand Case, right on the beach! The highlight of the building is the balcony overlooking the beach which runs the width of the three story building. The second and third floor units (we were on the second floor) are completely furnished with table for six, and large lounge area. You can sit out there all day out of the sun if you like, and around 4:00 when the sun starts to come around and it gets hot, you can move out to the balcony on the street side where there is always a lovely breeze and shade at that time of the day, and its a great spot for people watching!
The bedrooms are on the street side of the building. One has 2 twin beds and an adjoining shower/sink, while the other has a king bed with ensuite shower/sink, and they are air conditioned with very quiet units. There is only one toilet located between the two bedrooms. The kitchen/sitting room are in between the balcony and bedrooms and face the ocean with sliding glass doors the entire width. There is no a/c in this area however if you open the back french doors you get a nice cross breeze. The kitchen is very well equipped but small. The lower floor is split between and office on the beach side one one side and second bathroom, with a shower on the balcony for washing the sand off. There is also a shared laundry room located in the back.
There is a small wooden deck off the front with stairs down to the beach. Beach chairs and towels are provided as well as all other linens. There is also a charcoal Weber grille for your use on the deck. The beach is very quiet, at times we were the only people there. The sand is fine and white and the water perfect for swimming because this area of the bay is protected so there are no big waves. The view of the entire bay is fantastic.
There is one parking spot per unit off street which is great because the street is one lane, one way and parking is hard to come by, especially in the evenings when the shops and fabulous French restaurants open and the tourists from all over the island flood in.
The building is very clean and well maintained. It is secured from the street and beach sides with locking iron gates and has a security system, as well as metal roll down shutters across the beach balconies. There is satellite TV however there are only French channels. The wifi reception is pretty good but can be a bit

Villa Blue Beach – 2015 review (and St. Martin tips)
Stayed in February 2015 — Post on TripAdvisor – We just enjoyed a wonderful week at this vacation rental in Grand Case (Feb 14-21, 2015). There aren’t many reviews for Villa Blue Beach online, so here’s mine:
This property is extremely well located. It’s right in the heart of Grand Case, which I like to refer to as “shabby chic”. I say that because although Grand Case looks poor and run-down overall, it has a large concentration of excellent, refined restaurants, as well as a small sprinkling of neat little bars. Grand Case really comes alive at night. It’s our second time vacationing in St Martin, and both times we chose to stay in Grand Case, mostly because it’s the gourmet capital of the island. For us, that means we can enjoy our dinners just steps from our room, and then stumble home to bed 😉
Grand Case beach is no slouch either. It’s quite beautiful, and benefits from the BBQ huts (“Lolos” such as Sky’s The Limit) serving cheap and easy lunches. Bonus: the beach here never gets very crowded, and the surf doesn’t tend to get violent when it’s windy (unlike other parts of the island such as Orient Bay or Simpson Bay).
Back to this property: Both the second and third-floor units apparently have the same configuration, which is: kitchen and large living area, master bedroom with king bed and en-suite (no toilet), second bedroom with 2 singles pushed together, second bathroom (no toilet), and then a separate toilet room. (Note: The fourth-level unit, i.e. the “loft”, appears to be smaller than the other two).
By far the best part about this property (I’m referring to the units on the 2nd and 3rd floors) is the balcony. It’s massive! Also, it’s fully covered and furnished too, with a plush couch and two plush chairs, plus a full-sized dining room table. You can basically spit off the balcony and hit the water (please don’t! lol) and on top of all that, you can see most of the sunset unobstructed. This balcony is absolutely dynamite—one of the best we’ve ever experienced. (Warning: if you plan to sit on the balcony at night to enjoy the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore, be careful of the mosquitoes.)
The one downside of this unit was the ants. The kitchen counter was crawling with tiny little ones. Which I admit, is gross. I’m not sure how easy something like this is to control in the Caribbean. For us, the ants didn’t really interfere…I never saw them anywhere else in the unit, other than the kitchen. (For example, it would suck if they were in the bedroom or bathroom…but they weren’t). And since I wasn’t exactly cooking meals, it really wasn’t that bad. But I just thought it’s worth mentioning.
Also, only the bedrooms have AC units. Depending on how hot it is during your visit, the living area could get a bit stuffy. We didn’t find this to be a problem. We kept the sliding doors open sometimes to let in the breeze, and kept the bedroom doors mostly closed all the time, to keep the room cool.
Also, just a warning that there are no elevators in this property, which means you’ll have to carry your luggage up a few flights of stairs when you arrive and when you leave.
We felt quite secure here, even though Grand Case has a reputation for being sketchy. The balcony has a button-operated mechanical gate that we were told to close anytime we left the unit. The front door to the property (main door on the ground level) should also be locked at all times. So basically, anytime you arrive ‘home’ you need to unlock the front door, lock it behind you, then unlock your room, and lock it behind you. There’s a lot of key-action involved in staying here! But it’s a necessity.
(PS Grand Case has upped their security in general. There are actually security guards patrolling the streets at night, which is good. Last year we stayed at Bleu Emeraude, which is further away from the heart of Grand Case…which meant we had to walk 10 minutes along the dark road to reach the restaurants. It felt a bit sketchy at times. Villa Blue Beach is far more central.)
Two beach chairs are provided for each unit, which meant both myself and the hubby enjoyed lounging on the beach right outside our room. The beach in this section is quite narrow, but it’s still lovely. (Compared to Blue Emeraude, I’d say the view from there is better, but overall this just a nice uncrowded beach altogether.) Villa Blue Beach also has umbrellas although for some reason they were locked away during our stay. If you enjoy lounging in the shade, I suggest you request the umbrellas when you arrive.
Re: maid service, we stayed here for a week, which only included one day of cleaning / towel changing. The rest of the time we were on our own. Also, WiFi connection was poor to the point of being unusable.
Jennifer, who greeted us and saw us off, allowed us a late checkout (2:30pm) on our departure date so we could enjoy as much of the day as possible. This was greatly appreciated.
Overall, this is a terrific place to stay, and that statement is mostly based on the kickass balcony and the location in Grand Case.
Since we’re talking, you and I, here are some general tips about Grand Case and St Martin in general:
Best restaurant in Grand Case: Le Pressoire
Best restaurants outside of Grand Case: Temptation (on the Dutch side; a must) and Mario’s Bistro (in Sandy Ground, which is kind of a random area)
Best pastries/baguettes in Grand Case: Le Moulin (they make good sandwiches too)
Best breakfast in Grand Case: El Cafecito (great crepes, bacon, eggs, etc)…never tried Rainbow for breakfast but I hear it’s good too
Best coffee in Grand Case: I forget the name, but it’s the shabby little open-air café right where the one-way street in Grand Case begins; it’s not far from Le Moulin and it’s next to Mamma Mia pizzeria
Best beach club in Grand Case: Rainbow
Best mojito in Grand Case: Che
Best beach cocktail in St Martin: BBC! (Baileys, Banana, Coconut…so good. Try the version at Calmos Cafe)
Best live music in Grand Case: Thursday latin nights at Calmos Café. (Tip: I think Blue Martini has live music on Fridays as well)
Best night of the week in Grand Case: TUESDAY! (High season only) On Tuesdays they close the street around 6 pm and set up a Mardi Gras street party complete with cocktail bars, food stands, art and other fun stuff for sale, live bands and even a costumed parade! So awesome!!
Best things to do on St Martin:
*Visit Maho beach (2 popular beach bars here: Sunset Bar and Driftwood bar) to watch the planes take off and land …great sunset views from here as well
*Go to Marigot on Wed or Sat for their flea market and walk up the 92 stairs for views from the ruins of Fort St Louis
*Duty-free shopping in Philipsburg (which also has a rowdy daytime drinking scene along the boardwalk; for more refined drinking along the boardwalk, we enjoyed the outdoor champagne bar at the Holland House Hotel)
Best nightlife on St Martin: the Maho plaza, which houses Sopranos piano bar, Cheri’s Café (cabaret shows) and other spots (P.S. Bamboo sushi restaurant is recommended)
Best beach clubs….by “beach club” I mean a restaurant that also has beach chairs for rent (which are usually free if you purchase lunch)…you can basically spend your entire day at these places. We love experiencing a variety of beach “scenes”:
*Anse Marcel Beach – this is an amazing beach in the north; not far from Grand Case. The taupe-coloured beach chairs in the centre of the beach are the comfiest EVER…they are also free! (Or at least, nobody charged us for using them on the two days we visited)
*Karakter beach club in Simpson Bay…love this place. It also has live jazz on certain nights
*Friars Bay Beach Café in Friars Bay (if you come to this awesome beach, take a quick hike and check out Happy Bay as well). Note: on full moon nights, go to Kali’s which is also on Friar’s Bay
*Palm Beach in Orient Bay…Palm Beach is located at the very opposite end of Orient’s nudist section, so if you want more nudist action, this won’t be your beach club of choice (although topless women are always everywhere)
Things I didn’t get to try yet, but wanted to:
*Having lunch in a “treehouse setting” at Hidden Forest Café / Treetop Lounge and then walking around the rainforest at Loterie Farm/Pic Paradis
*Going to “Sky Beach”…a beach-themed bar with lounge chairs
*Going to L’astrolabe restaurant in Orient Bay for their Friday night lobster and live music party
Anyway, that’s about it. Enjoy your holiday in St Martin / St Maarten!!!

Ideally located, clean, spacious with unbelievable views of Grand Case bay, Anguilla & Creole Rock
Stayed in February 2015 — This condo apartment, two floors above the ground floor, is perfectly located in the restaurant row of St. Martin, Grand Case. Convenient as there is parking in front and the beach is right downstairs. The view from the apartment’s terrace is unbelievable. Better than the pictures here. You can see Grand Case bay, Anguilla and Creole Rock. The manager is accommodating and everything went according to plan. The only thing that would make the apartment more perfect would be having the washing machine in the unit instead of a shared one on the ground floor. There is not much noise and the air conditioning keeps the bedrooms comfortable. Also the apartment was very clean and there are no annoying charges as everything, with final cleaning, is included in the quoted rental rate.

Paradise in St. Martin!
Stayed in July — Sorry for the late review. My husband and I spent a wonderful week last summer in this condo. Very well located, immaculate, nice and clean. The view was just to take our breath away!Everything is walking distance and there are buses (even nice local people) ready to pick you up for a ride. We went all around the French side and decided to rent a car for one day to visit the other side. We preferred from far the French side.Beautiful beaches all over the island, nice people and very good food! Olivier was truly a great host and gave us useful tips for our stay. We are looking forward to go back!

Stayed in January — We recently spent a week in St. Martin with our two young children and our stay at Villa Blue Beach was exceptional. The apartment was clean and modern, and the views were spectacular. The proximity to fabulous restaurants was also a huge plus. Olivier was very accommodating and promptly answered our many questions. We recommend this property without hesitation!
LMH, Washington, DC Feb 2012
Stayed in July — This facility is exactly as it represents itself in
the pictures. The entire complex is very clean and right in the heart of the Grand Case restaurant experience. Many nights, I would get “take out” from the local restaurants to eat on the balcony since the view from this condo is much better than what the restaurants offered. The view from the balcony is breath taking and never got old. If you are wanting to stay in St.Martin without renting a car, this is the ideal place where you can walk to anything you would need from restaurants to grocery supplies in nearby stores. Grand Case has a very strong Caribbean flavor to it and is not “Americanized” like Aruba or Cayman Islands but is beautiful in who she is. Grand Case does have some exposure to poverty near by that may make some new visitors feel like they are on Jamaica with its poverty, but that window does not reflect Grand Case. The locals were very polite, respectful and were more than happy to offer assistance to me, my 80 year old mom and 11 year old son—having to speak French or attempt too only added to the adventure. Pinel Island and Snorkeling off one of the islands via a local tour is definitely worth the money- this is my 4th time in St. Martin; 1st staying in Grand Case.
Olivier ( the owner) is responsive to needs and was good to work with. This would be the only place I would return too if/when I come back to Grand Case where I would highly recommend this location in Grand Case.

A piece of paradise
Stayed in February — This is by far the best place to stay in Grand Case.It is exactly what you see in the pictures. You will not be disappointed.

Villa Blue Beach Grand Case
Stayed in February — We just got back from staying at the this residence. It was absolutely wonderful. We stayed in the 2 bedroom on the 2nd floor. The view was spectacular and the beach is clean with soft white sand. When we were there the tide came pretty far
up the sand so we had to make sure our chairs were near the wall. Also the living area can be closed off which was perfect. All day we would keep the back bedrooms closed off from the living room with
the air on which kept the rooms cool with no mosquitoes! That way we were able to sleep soundly and peacefully, since we kept the balcony doors open all day. Olivier, the manager, is very pleasant and accommodating. Speaks mostly French but you will be able to communicate with him if you only speak English. The condo is right on the main boulevard with all the restaurants. Surprisingly not a lot of noise.
The very best restaurant is Piazza Pascal by far! The lasagna is to die for! Closed on Wednesday. Also this area is not really a party area. Restaurants usually open around 5 pm and close at 10:30 pm. If you want to stay out late it is best if you rent a car, taxis cost more after certain hours.
Lastly the condo is very secure. There is a lock on the front and back doors to the complex. Also your condo is locked and you have to use the key to enter and exit. Will definitely stay here again.
